Barnsley made it three wins from three this summer, with a good win against German second tier side VFL Bochum.
Cauley Woodrow continued his fine pre-season form with his sixth goal in three outings after 35 minutes, slotting coolly into the top corner after being found by Mike Bahre who had shown superb skill to wriggle free on the right hand side of the box before squaring across.
Victory was secured three minutes from time with Bahre again the architect, curling over a corner which new recruit George Miller met to head down into the corner past the goalkeeper's right hand.
Bochum did reduce the arrears second later when Tom Weilandt feigned one way and then the other, almost sending cente back pairing Mads Anderson and Bambo Diaby back to Barnsley before slotting past Brad Collins.
Indeed defensive frailites which had been evident in the 4-2 victory over Toulon were again shown here with the Reds frequently caught on the counter attack and Bochum had several chances to take the lead before Woodrow's opener, notably when Anthony Losilla and Vitaly Janelt both broke clear but somehow shot wide. These mistakes will need to be rectified before the season opener with Fulham in just over two weeks time.
