After a wretched August, September was even worse as The Reds went through the whole month without a victory or a goal and they ended the month second from bottom of the Championship.

The Reds picked up their first point on the road in this stalemate with fellow strugglers Southampton but they slumped to the bottom of the league. One point should have been three as Iain Hume rounded Kelvin Davis in the 84th minute but put his effort into the side netting with the goal gaping.
Match Eight:
Another stalemate compounded by a missed penalty from striker Jon Macken. This was also the first game that Brian Howard missed before his move to Sheffield United was confirmed. Macken should have sealed the points for The Reds in the 13th minute but hit a tame penalty at Canaries stopper David Marshall.
