European Champions Chelsea are believed to be plotting a £2m move for Barnsley’s young starlet John Stones.
The 18 year old has rose to promience this season, scoring on his full debut in the Capital One Cup, and then playing 90 minutes on his England Under 19s debut this month.
That has led to a flock of Premier League scouts heading to Oakwell to watch the full-back who put in another excellent performance during yesterday’s 1-1 draw with Blackpool. But it is Chelsea who are believed to be the front runners and, even though Stones has just signed a new long term contract with The Reds, the club’s board would be sorely tempted if a bid of around £2m was offered. Chelsea are also believed to be ready to let Stones remain at Oakwell for the rest of the season and then move to Stamford Bridge in the summer.
