Barnsley are set to make a second attempt to sign midfielder James Bailey from Derby County.
12 months ago, former Reds boss Keith Hill tried to bring the 24 year old to Oakwell to replace Jacob Butterfield after Rams manager Nigel Clough had placed him on the transfer list.
Unfortunately the move never materialised and the former Crewe trainee signed a contract extension at Pride Park before moving on loan to League One Coventry for most of the 2012-2013 campaign.
Derby have now confirmed that Bailey is free to move and David Flitcroft is set to rekindle the Reds interest.
Meanwhile striker Chris O’Grady’s permanent switch up the road from Sheffield Wednesday to Barnsley has moved a step closer. Sources have indicated that the 27 year old who netted six times in 16 appearances on loan last season could sign on the dotted line next week.
