Reports are suggesting that Chelsea midfielder Jacob Mellis is set to arrive at Oakwell on loan from Premier League champions Chelsea within the next 48 hours.
The 20 year old started his career at Sheffield United but was snapped up by Chelsea for £1m in 2007. He is clearly rated by Carlo Ancelotti as he signed a new contract last night to keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2013.
The Nottingham born midfielder made his debut for the Blues as a 91st minute substitute in the Champions League win over MSK Zilina in November and was also a part of the Chelsea youth team which reached the final of the FA Youth Cup in 2008, but he was sent off in the second leg as they crashed 4-2 to Manchester City.
The England U19 international’s most productive senior spell came during a 12 match loan at Southampton last season.
