Reports today are saying Barnsley are set to sign Scunthorpe United left-back Marcus Williams.
Chairman Gordon Shepherd revealed on Tuesday that bids were in for a left-back, centre back and goalkeeper and now BBC Radio Humberside have reported the club have "upped their bid" for Williams who played an integral part in Scunthorpe's promotion from League One as champions.
Williams, 21, came up through the ranks at Glanford Park and signed a contract in July 2003. He has made 83 appearances for Scunthorpe (including 42 last season) since making his debut in March 2004.
According to Scunthorpe's Official website, Williams was One of the Iron's most consistent performers of the 2006/07 League One title-winning season
