Barnsley are set for a major battle to keep top scorer Adam Hammill at Oakwell beyond the end of January with Premier League bottom side Wolverhampton Wanderers the latest team ready to bid for the winger.
Wolves boss and Barnsley born ex Reds captain Mick McCarthy was in the stands at Oakwell yesterday for the 2-1 win over Coventry and while some sources claim he was merely their to watch full back Matt Hill- who is on loan from Molineux- many believe he was running the rule over Hammill.
There is still widespread debate over whether a £500,000 release clause exists in the 22 year old’s contract, but with SKY Sports reporting a £2m bid from Blackpool it is highly likely this does not exist.
Reds boss Mark Robins has already confirmed the club has received a lot of interest in the Liverpudlian since the transfer window opened four days and what now seems certain is that Hammill will not be a Red come February…..
