Barnsley have been linked with a January move for Southend United midfielder Anthony Grant. The former Chelsea youngster signed on at Roots Hall in 2008 after a successful loan spell and has made over 100 appearances for the Shrimpers netting six goals.
The 23 year old is though looking to move to a higher level and has just 18 months on his contract. This, according to skysports.com has alerted Championship sides such as the Reds, Bristol City, Doncaster and Reading.
Grant, who has also played for Luton, Wycombe and Oldham has had a tendency for finding his way into the referee's notebook during his time in Essex and has accumulated 30 yellow cards in his two year spell including four in 15 games this season. To offset this he has also managed five goals in 2010-2011, including the Shrimpers goal in a 2-1 defeat at Chesterfield last weekend.
