...Harry Tufnell’s solitary strike on the 24th April 1912 secured the trophy for Arthur Fairclough’s Reds after 12 gruelling matches.
The Reds went through six rounds but were taken to five replays- including three in their Fourth Round tie with Bradford, whilst their Final opponents- West Brom required just one- to see off Blackburn in the Semi-Finals.
Indeed Barnsley played 12 league and cup matches in April 1912- a record- as they chased a promotion and cup double (they eventually finished fifth in the Second Division), but they triumphed in the cup, two years after losing to Newcastle in the Final.
Altogether Barnsley played 11 matches in the 1911-1912 FA Cup, scoring 11 goals and conceding four, and below is the run of both sides:
