Barnsley Football Club have announced their season ticket prices for the 2010-2011 season and there is an increase on last summer’s prices! Last summer, The Reds shaved £20 off season ticket prices but have ADDED £25 for some areas of the ground this summer!
A statement on www.barnsleyfc.co.uk reads:
“Barnsley Football Club have continued to ensure that season ticket holders get great benefits for their loyal support. Adult season tickets start from as low as £299 for the season which equates to just £13 a game and once again under 12s can watch Championship football for free*. Under 18s will also be able to enjoy some of the best football in the league for less than £5 per match.
As a season ticket holder, you will be given priority for away games and you have your seat guaranteed for any cup games at Oakwell. New privileges that have also been added for next season include a free pre-paid Barnsley Card, details of which will be released shortly.
This season we have decided to make a small increase on last year's season ticket prices, but they are still, on average, below the prices in the 2007/08 campaign. The reason behind our decision is to give additional backing for Mark Robins for the 2010/11 season. The increase is in line with our neighbours, but the overall prices are still lower than others in the division.
Season ticket renewal packs will be posted out shortly and supporters will be able to book and renew their seat from April 6, 2010. Existing season ticket holders have until close of business on May 31, 2010 to renew their seat for the 2010/2011 campaign.
Supporters have until June 30 to claim a free U12s ticket. After this date U12s will be able to watch the best of the Championship at Oakwell Stadium for just £25.
Even with a small increase, the season ticket represents fantastic value for money compared to buying individual match tickets and is the equivalent to getting eight or nine free games during the season.”
The club have also reintroduced the category system for match days, last seen under the Peter Ridsdale regime in 2004-2005. The statement continues:
We have also changed the way we price individual match day tickets. From next season there will be one set price for all the stands and they will be graded into three match categories. This will mean that adult tickets will be as low as £15 for a game, a reduction of £7 over this season.
The matchday prices will be:
Category A Games: £25 adult; £13 concessions; £7 under 12
Category B Games: £22 adult; £12 concessions; £6 under 12
Category C Games: £15 adult; £10 concessions; £5 under 12
