.......This excellent 2-0 victory was only The Reds second home victory over Leicester in 11 meetings.
Leicester have now gone seven league games without a victory- their worst run for six years.
This was only the second time in seven outings that the Foxes have conceded more than once in a game and it is the FIRST time they have been beaten by more than one goal this campaign.
Barnsley have again extended their incredible scoring run to a 17th successive league game. Out of those 17, this is the ninth in which they have scored more than once.
Barnsley’s first goal this afternoon came from Leicester’s Michael Keane. It is the first time The Reds have benefited from an own goal this season.
It was also the earliest they have scored this season- fourth minute.
The second was netted by on loan striker Chris O’Grady- his third in six appearances.
That goal from O’Grady was The Reds 50th league strike of the season. One more than they managed in the whole of 2011-2012.
The three points gained today puts Barnsley onto 47 points, one behind their 2011-2012 total.
This is Barnsley’s third home win in a row and their seventh in the last eight. Prior to this they had gone a club record 11 home matches without victory!
They have won eight and lost eight of their 20 home league matches this season- six of those victories coming in 2013, under David Flitcroft.
This was only the eighth time in 20 home matches this season that the attendance has broken 10,000.
Interestingly only one side in the Championship to seven won today- leaders Cardiff whilst three of the bottom seven won.
