….Barnsley have now lost just one of their seven games under David Flitcroft and none of the last six. It is their longest unbeaten run since September 2011.
The Reds have won five of their last six matches and three in a row. The first time they have done this since December 2011.
Under Flitcroft The Reds have conceded in the first half just once- in his first match, the 2-1 defeat at Peterborough. Before this, Barnsley had conceded in the first half in nine of the previous 10 matches.
Jason Scotland now has two goals in two substitute appearances for the club- a total of 48 minutes.
Jim O’Brien put The Reds in front, it was the 25 year old’s first goal for the club for nearly a year. His last strike was in the 2-0 win over Portsmouth on the 18th February last year.
This victory extends The Reds’ excellent recent record at Bloomfield Road. They have now lost just one of their last 10 visits to the seaside stadium.
It is also the second year in a row that a Blackpool player has been sent off in this fixture at Bloomfield Road.
This was Barnsley’s fourth away victory of the season, equalling their entire total for 2011-2012. Beware though, the Reds won their fourth away match of last season in January but then did not win again on the road.
Barnsley won just ten games in 2012, they have now won five already in 2013.
