David Perkins has today completed a perhaps surprising free transfer move to Barnsley’s Championship rivals and tomorrow’s opponents Blackpool.
It was announced yesterday by Reds boss Danny Wilson that 31-year-old Perkins was set to leave but many Reds supporters presumed a lower league switch as has happened with Scott Wiseman and Chris Dagnall.
However the former Rochdale man who has appeared in 25 of Barnsley’s 27 matches in all competitions this season has moved 10 places in the Championship table by joining Paul Ince’s side.
Blackpool travel to Oakwell tomorrow on a run of eight defeats in their last nine matches but Perkins will not be available to play.
