Barnsley supporters have been given an early Christmas present with the news that Adam Hammill has agreed to extend his stay until the end of the season.
The 27 year old returned to Oakwell after four years last month but only on a short-term contract. He has arguably been The Reds best player in the six matches he has played since returning and has scored twice in two Johnstones Paint Trophy ties to help them to the Northern Final.
Now the Liverpudlian who played for Wolves, Middlesbrough, Huddersfield and Rotherham after leaving Oakwell in 2011 has penned a contract until June.
He is the second player to extend his Oakwell stay after striker Ivan Toney’s loan at the club will continue until the 9th January from Premier League outfit Newcastle.
The 19 year old who bagged 13 goals in 29 starts for Northampton to earn his move to the North East scored his first Barnsley goal in the penalty shootout win at Wigan on Saturday.
