Seven of the players that led Barnsley to Play-Off glory have been offered new contracts by Manager Andy Ritchie and Chairman Gordon Shepherd.

Shootout hero Nick Colgan, skipper Paul Reid, fellow defenders, Bobby Hassell, Antony Kay and Neil Austin, and midfielders Stephen McPhail and Chris Shuker have all been offered new deals as their current contracts expire this summer. The length and wages have not been disclosed as yet.

The only players who have not been offered new deals at Oakwell are Barry Conlon and Matt Carbon. Conlon will re-join League Two Darlington whilst Carbon will move on to pastures new after two injury hit seasons.

These are not the only contracts been offered however.

Youngsters Ryan Laight and Thomas Harban have signed new 12month deals whilst Simon Heslop has been offered his first professional contract of two years.

The scholarships of Tom Beevor, Jonathan Loukes, Stefan Holt and Rhys Meynell have also been extended until 2007.

The Reds have also taken eight new scholars on for 2006-2007.

Jacob Butterfield, Greg McGory, Ryan Jennings, Daniel Smith, Luke Fedorenko, Luke Waterfall, Jacob White and Mark Devonshire will all aim to be Barnsley stars of tomorrow as they have all agreed two year scholarships and will join the Oakwell Academy in July.
