The Football Association has risked the wrath of Barnsley fans yet again after choosing Plymouth as one of their host cities if they are successful in bidding for the 2018 World Cup.
Plymouth Argyle are proposing to build a new stadium at their Home Park ground with a capacity of 43,874, but the irony of choosing Plymouth will not be lost on Barnsley fans after the poor state of the Home Park pitch contributed to The Reds game against the Pilgrims being abandoned three weeks ago with Barnsley leading 4-1.
Meanwhile there has been two managerial changes at Championship clubs in the past 24 hours. Yesterday, struggling Reading dispensed with the services of Brendan Rogers after just six months at the Madejski Stadium. It means former Barnsley captain Brian Howard will be playing under his third manager this year, after being with Kevin Blackwell at Sheffield United before moving to Reading in the summer.
Former Barnsley boss Paul Hart has also landed himself a new job within weeks of being sacked by Premier League bottom club Portsmouth. Hart has taken up the post at Queens Park Rangers, which became vacant after QPR suspended and then sacked Jim Magilton for an altercation with midfielder Akos Buzsaky. It means Hart is set for his first return to Oakwell since being fired in March 2005. The Hoops come to Oakwell in the final home game of the season on the 24th April 2010.
