Barnsley 1-2 Coventry City.

Barnsley fell to their third successive home defeat under Danny Wilson. He is the first manager since Keith Hill to lose his first three home games in charge.

Barnsley went 1-0 up for the first time in seven matches and only the seventh time this season. They also managed to score a first half goal for only the third time in 12 matches.

The last time they took the lead was at Brighton and that was also the last time they led at half time before today.

A Barnsley striker has now failed to score for five games and they have managed it just ONCE in the last 12. Each of the last three Reds goals have been scored by midfielders and six of the last seven.

It is now seven matches since they last tasted victory (the club’s longest run without one since the final game of last season and the first six of this.)

That awful record we keep posting every week now stands at one win in 13, three in 27  and eight in 39!

Danny Wilson has now won just one of his last 14 matches as Barnsley manager.

The Reds have been knocked out of a cup competition by a lower league side in three of the last four seasons but this is the first time they have been eliminated in the FA Cup by one since 2004.

They have though now exited the competition at the Third Round stage or before in 13 of the last 15 seasons and they have gone out in the Third Round in five of the last six.

Barnsley lost a game after leading at half time for the first time since December 2011 when they led Ipswich 2-0 at the break but lost 5-3.

Barnsley have won two of their last 16 matches with Coventry and the Sky Blues have now won five of their last seven visits to Oakwell.

Steven Pressley’s side have lost just one of their nine in all competitions and today was the fourth game in a row in which they have fallen 1-0 behind. They have gone on to win three and draw one of those matches.
