Barnsley continue their best ever season in the Football League Trophy, advancing into the Area semi-finals where they will face either Wigan, Fleetwood ore Morecambe- all three of those sides have won on their most recent trips to Oakwell.
This win ends a run of six straight defeats in all competitions for the Reds. They have won two of their last 10 matches, both in this competition.
Barnsley scored two goals from open play last season, for the first time in 11 matches.
There were only 3,360 people in attendance to see this however, Oakwell’s lowest attendance for a competitive fixture for 21 years.
For the second Johnstones’ Paint Trophy tie in a row Barnsley came from behind to win 2-1.
Four of their seven wins this season have come after conceding the first goal.
Yesterday however was the first time they have won a game after being behind at half time since October 12th 2014- 3-1 win over Bradford.
Adam Hammill is the first Barnsley player to score and set up a goal in the same game since Conor Hourihane in the 4-1 win over Swindon in September.
Barnsley have failed to score a first half goal in any of their past six matches.
They have gone ten games without a clean sheet in all competitions.
Reece Wabara has been booked in five of his last seven appearances.
