Barnsley 3-5 Everton

Last updated : 27 August 2015 By Rob Miles (BarnsleyBoy)

Barnsley finally broke their first half home scoring duck. The Reds managed to score before the break at Oakwell for the first time in eight games.

They scored two first half goals for the first time in 2015, and also led by two goals to nil at half time for the first time since the same match, a 2-0 win over Leyton Orient in December 2014.

Barnsley lost after leading by two goals at the break for the first time in four years. Extraordinarily the last time it happened was also live on Sky and ended with a 5-3 defeat (v Ipswich in December 2011)

Despite an away team scoring as many as five goals being quite a rare occurrence, Barnsley have conceded at least five goals at home in each of the past five seasons and have lost by the even rarer scoreline of 5-3 in three of those.

Barnsley were knocked out of the League Cup by conceding five goals at home for the second time in three seasons. They were beaten 5-1 by Southampton in August 2013.

After managing just four shots on target in their previous two home matches combined, The Reds managed seven last night out of a total of 21.

Barnsley are now winless in eight meetings with Everton.
