Barnsley are set to confirm the capture of the first player born in the 21st Century to make a Football League appearance.
18 year old Callum Styles who was born in March 2000 became the first player born in the noughties to appear in the Football League when he came on in the 75th minute of Bury's 3-2 win over Scunthorpe in May 2016 aged just 16. Being the first millennial player wasn't the only noteworthy issue to arise from this as Bury were later docked three points due to Styles not being properly registered when he appeared.
Since then Styles has made a further 26 appearances for the Shakers and played the full 90 minutes in their 1-0 victory over Yeovil at the weekend which was their first game in League Two since 2015 following relegation from League One last season.
The central midfielder Styles started his career with Burnley but never made it above Academy level before moving to Bury and it is expected that once the deal is finalised Styles will return to Gigg Lane on loan, at least until January.
