Barnsley Football Club have this evening announced they will refund the tickets of all the 421 supporters who made the 432 mile round trip to see an atrocious performance and 5-1 defeat at Crawley yesterday.
The managerless Reds were torn apart by a four goal second half tornado against a side who had won only one of their previous 16 league games and had themselves been trounced 5-0 by Doncaster on that same pitch in midweek.
After the game caretaker manager Mark Burton apologised to the supporters and now the club have taken action by refunding anybody that went.
A statement on the club’s official website read:
All at Barnsley FC share the fans distress at the team’s performance at Crawley yesterday. The sentiments expressed by Mark Burton after the game were entirely appropriate. As a consequence the Board has decided that it will refund the ticket price for each Barnsley FC fan attending the game at Crawley.
Further information will be provided during the course of next week.
