Interesting Stats

These two sides can hardly be separated. Bradford’s 1-0 victory in April put them one win (37-36) and one goal (135-134) ahead in meetings between the two sides.

However Barnsley have much the better record at Oakwell (24-17) and they are unbeaten in the last five in South Yorkshire.

Four of those have ended in a stalemate however and home or away Barnsley have won only two of the last ten in all competitions.

Ironically both Barnsley and Bradford scored in the fourth minute on the opening day of the 2015-2016 season, still led 1-0 at half time but ended up losing.

Despite taking the lead in all four games this season Bradford are still searching for their first win.

The last time they failed to win any of their first five games was 2011/2012 when the Bantams were a League Two outfit.

They have won only one of their past six on the road.

Each of Bradford’s last seven wins have been accompanied by a clean sheet.

STAT! – In complete contrast to Barnsley, Bradford have a very good record on this date and have won three of their last four.

JOINT STAT!- These two sides have met once before on the 22nd August. Back in 1970, Bradford followed up an opening day 2-1 victory at Walsall in the old Third Division by defeating The Reds 1-0 at Valley Parade.

It was a second successive 1-0 defeat for Barnsley who had gone down by the same score-line to Fulham seven days previously.

Barnsley would win only one of their first seven matches of that season but finished in a respectable 12th position. Bradford won four of their first six matches but then lost six of the next eight and finished the season in 19th place, just one point off relegation.
