Interesting Stats:

Barnsley’s 1-0 defeat at Preston on Boxing Day ended The Reds run of three successive victories over the Lillywhites.

However The Reds have won only two of the last five meetings at Oakwell and only three of the last eight.

Although Preston lead the overall head to heads 22 wins to 18, they are only one ahead in league clashes.

The Lancashire outfit have won only seven of their 22 visits to Oakwell and two of those have come in the last five.

Only one of the last 11 meetings have ended in a draw.

Three of the last five clashes have finished with only one team scoring.

Barnsley supporters are rightfully delighted with the form of their team having won six and drawn one of their last seven matches…. However they face a team tomorrow on an even BETTER run.

Preston have won six and drawn one of their past seven matches which has launched them into second place in the League One table, two points above the chasing play-off pack.

In all competitions they have had only two blips in 11 matches and one of those came against Manchester United.

This has helped contribute to 21 wins from their 36 matches and only six defeats, the last of which came at the end of January. Only the league leaders Bristol City have won more and lost less.

The Lillywhites have kept seven clean sheets in their past nine league matches and have conceded only 31 goals this season, the best defensive record in the division and the third best in the Football League.

Preston have won each of their last three games on the road all without conceding a goal and have won 10 away games so far this season, again only Bristol City have won more.

More worryingly for Barnsley is that Preston have conceded only 13 goals on their travels, that’s the best record in the Football League.

A lot of Preston’s attacking prowess can be attributed to their awesome foursome of Daniel Johnson, Jermaine Beckford, Joe Garner and Paul Gallagher who between them have netted 16 goals in the last seven matches.
