CREDITORS and shareholders of the old Barnsley FC have been warned the future of the club is in their hands.
Basically, the administrators aiming to wind up the company have set out a plan to settle the club's debts.
If this offer is turned down, the club is likely to be expelled from the
Nationwide League.
A statement from RSM Robson Rhodes reads: "Separate meetings of creditors
and shareholders have been convened for 10am and 11am respectively at
Brooklands Hotel, Barnsley Road, Dodworth, Barnsley, on Monday March 24 to
vote on a proposal for a company voluntary arrangement of the company in
administration.
"The joint administrators urge creditors and shareholders to vote in favour
of the proposal, which has the support of the company's largest creditors.
"If the proposal is voted down, the joint administrators will be forced to
seek their discharge in relation to the company in administration, and will
not be allowed to transfer memberships in the Football League and the
Football Association to Barnsley Football Club 2002 Limited.
"In those circumstances the football club would almost certainly be
expelled from the Nationwide League.
"Creditors and members should be clear that a vote against these proposals
will jeopardise the future of the football club."
