Barnsley’s longest serving player Bobby Hassell may have played his last game for the club after being ruled out of the final three matches of the season.
The 32 year old who has appeared 263 times for the Oakwell outfit in nine years with the club suffered a hamstring injury 32 minutes into Tuesday night’s 1-1 draw with Derby County that sidelines him for the next three weeks.
Hassell’s current deal runs out in the summer, and although there have been noises about a new deal it is believed that the former Mansfield trainee will only be asked to extend his stay to a decade if the club preserve their Championship status.
Unfortunately Hassell will now not be able to help the club achieve this aim.
