Blackpool caretaker manager Terry Phillips said:

"It's was a shame. It’s fine margins, isn’t it? We had a good go and Cully got his goal and the response from the lads was terrific. It was just offside, I think, the one at the end.

The subs have all come on and done well, which lifted the crowd. The crowd got behind the players and the players stepped up to the mantle and caused them lots of problems second-half.

After the first two or three minutes where we dominated, we didn’t keep that going and we looked leggy, I thought. They’ve had a tough week and a lot to deal with, but we got to half-time and I knew they were going to do better second-half, and they did. We nearly got the equaliser in the end.

The goals weren’t very good, and I think they’ll be disappointed with the goal they conceded as well. The first goal is a bit of confusion and the lad nips in and finishes with aplomb, and the second goal – he’s just such a handful Hawkins – the other lad times his run and gets in behind. They’re disappointing goals from our point of view and we need to do better."
