Barnsley FC legend Bobby Hassell has made an emotional return to Oakwell after being handed the role of Academy Head of Recruitment.
The 35-year-old spent ten fantastic years as a player at Oakwell between 2004 and 2014, making 299 appearances, winning one promotion and playing in an FA Cup Semi-Final at Wembley.
This earned him a testimonial in the summer against a Mansfield XI (Mansfield being the only other English club he played for)
After leaving South Yorkshire following the club’s relegation to League One Hassell spent a short time in India playing for Bharat FC but has always kept strong ties with the town and he has now been handed an official role with the club.
