Barnsley have confirmed the rumours swirling around Oakwell in recent days by re-signing Adam Hammill!!
The now 27 year old was a major fans favourite during his first stint with The Reds between 2009 and 2011, scoring 13 times in 70 starts and producing a series of eye-catching performances.
Eight of those goals came in the first half of the 2010-2011 campaign which earned the Liverpudlian a move to Wolves in January 2011 after the Molienux side activated a £500,000 release clause in his Barnsley contract.
However Hammill has failed to hit the heights since leaving Oakwell scoring a meagre eight goals in 149 starts for Wolves, Middlesbrough, Huddersfield and Rotherham.
He was released by his parent club Huddersfield in September and has been training at Oakwell for the past week. Now he has returned for good!
Lee Johnson told the club’s official website:
"I'm sure I don't need to tell the Barnsley fans what Adam is capable of. We are delighted to have him on board.
"He has a great pedigree, he's quick, direct and will get crosses into the box. He's an exciting addition to our squad and he's a player I'm sure will add goals and assists."
"I'm sure the fans are just as excited as I am to see him back in a red shirt. He's turned down interest from elsewhere because he feels at home here and we're delighted to have him back."
