Barnsley fans could be set to receive yet more brilliant news this week after Sky Sports revealed that captain Jacob Butterfield could perform a U-turn and stay with the Reds.
After Tuesday's news of the signing of Jacob Mellis, Jim O'Brien signing a new deal on Wednesday and the capture of Mido on Thursday, Friday's news is another boost to Barnsley.
The 21-year-old was the Reds' star performer in the first half of last season, turning in several fine displays and scoring some spectacular goals.
But he was crocked in the New Years' Day 4-1 thrashing of Leeds and has not played since.
Being out of contract this summer, Barnsley fans thought they'd seen the last of Butterfield in a red shirt but Sky Sports understands that he is ready to snub North East duo Middlesbrough and Newcastle to stay at Oakwell.
He is thought to be impressed with the way Keith Hill has gone about transfer business so far this summer, including bringing in ex-loanee Jacob Mellis, who Butterfield formed a friendship with back in 2011.
