Barnsley were last night trying to push through an emergency loan deal for Manchester City’s Alex Nimely in time for today’s Yorkshire derby with Huddersfield Town.
The 21-year old- full name Alex Tchuimeni-Nimely has been at the Barclays Premier League champions since 2008 when he signed from Cameroonian club Coton Sport FC de Garouna.
He has struggled to force his way into City’s mega rich line-up however, making just one appearance in four years and has had loan spells at Middlesbrough and Coventry City. The former Liberia and England Under 20 international scored once in 17 games at the Sky Blues last season but failed to save them from relegation.
The Reds had hoped to acquire Simon Church from Reading but he opted to move to today’s Oakwell visitors Huddersfield, and if Nimely cannot be signed in time, he will be part of the squad for next weekend’s trip to Bolton, and will remain at Oakwell until January.
