Chester 0-3 Barnsley

Last updated : 21 December 2014 By Rob Miles (BarnsleyBoy)

Barnsley secured their first win in six games in all competitions.

This 3-0 success was Barnsley’s biggest away win since the 4-1 triumph at Yeovil back in March.

Barnsley have now opened the scoring in four of their past five games in all competitions, but this was the first one they have gone on to win.

Barnsley have now scored in 14 of their last 15 games in all competitions with the first game with Chester at Oakwell the only blank.

They scored more than once for the first time in seven matches.

In those seven games The Reds have kept just two clean sheets, both against Chester.

This clean sheet was Barnsley’s third successive one in the FA Cup, the first time this has happened since they also kept shut outs in each of their first three ties of the 1969-1970 season.

The Reds led at half time away from home for the first time since the 4th October (six away games ago)

Barnsley led at half time and went on to win for only the fourth time this season.

Kane Hemmings netted only his third goal in 18 appearances for The Reds, two of which have come in cup competitions.

Dale Jennings bagged a second half brace, including a wonderful solo effort. It is the first time he has netted twice in one game since October 2010. He is the first Barnsley player to score a brace away from home since Chris O’Grady in that aforementioned Yeovil match.

The Reds have now scored nine goals in the FA Cup this season, the most of any side (excluding qualifiers)
