It was only yesterday that Preston North End booked their return to the Championship following a 4-0 thumping of Swindon in the League One Play-Off Final at Wembley but now BOTH clubs who were defeated in the semi-finals have changed their manager.
Paul Cook left Chesterfield immediately following their exit to take over at Portsmouth and was replaced by ex Doncaster manager Dean Saunders and now fellow Yorkshire outfit Sheffield United have dispensed with Nigel Clough.
The 49 year old son of legendary manager Brian Clough took over at Bramall Lane in October 2013 with the club languishing near the bottom of the League One table and led them to a seventh place finish that season.
The former Burton and Derby boss then took the Blades into the play-offs in this campaign finishing in fifth place but they were defeated 7-6 on aggregate by Swindon and Clough has today paid with his job.
