Coca Cola Championship Matchday Five: Norwich City v Barnsley

Last updated : 25 August 2006 By Rob Miles (barnsley Boy)

Nick Colgan, Antony Kay Brian Howard, Martin Devaney, Michael McIndoe, Paul Hayes and Marc Richards should all come back into The Reds starting-line-up after being rested for the Carling Cup victory against Blackpool.

Paul Heckingbottom once again misses out with a rib injury so Robbie Williams will keep his place at left back.

Vito Mannone and Colin Healy who both starred at Bloomfield Road will be relegated to the bench.

Probable Line-Up:

Nick Colgan

Bobby Hassell

Antony Kay

Paul Reid

Robbie Williams

Martin Devaney

Brian Howard

Sam Togwell

Michael McIndoe

Paul Hayes

Marc Richards.

Barnsley go to Carrow Road looking for their first victory there in 12 attempts.

The last time The Reds emerged victorious at Norwich was back in May 1937! When they won 1-0

Barnsley also haven't beaten Norwich home and away in 3 games.

The last time the two sides met was on 13th April 2002 at Oakwell, Norwich won 2-0 where a certain Paul Hayes was an unused substitute for The Canaries and Barnsley were relegated to League One that day where they remained until last season's Play-Off Success. Revenge should most certainly be on the cards!

BARNSLEY: Marriott, Mulligan, Gibbs, Morgan, Flynn, Betsy (Barker 74), Jones, Lumsdon (Neil 64), Gorre, Dyer, Naylor (Sheron 59).
Subs: Miller, Chettle.

Both teams have made similar starts to the 2006-2007 season with both clubs claiming 7 points from the opening 4 games.

Two 100% record also clash tomorrow with Norwich boasting a 100% home record after defeating Preston 2-0 and doing a “Barnsley” by coming from 2-0 down to defeat Luton 3-2.

Barnsley meanwhile have a 100% away record after those stunning comebacks at Hull and Colchester.

In the Carling Cup this week Barnsley of course defeated League One Blackpool 4-2 on penalties after drawing the match 2-2 whilst Norwich had a comfortable 2-0 victory at League Two Torquay.
