Barnsley travel to Pride Park with a woeful away record against The Rams. They have lost their last FIVE encounters there and haven't won in seven attempts.

The two sides last met at Pride Park in the glory Premiership days.

Back on 30th August 1997 The Reds were narrowly defeated 1-0 through a retaken Baiano penalty in Derby's first game at their new Pride Park home!

Reds side on 30/8/97:

Leese, Eaden, Appleby (Booked), Moses, DeZeeuw, Redfearn, Marcelle(S), Liddell, Tinkler, Hristov(S), Barnard(S). Subs Used Sheridan(Booked) , Hendrie, Wilkinson.

The Reds were in the heady heights of 10th in the Premiership after that game whilst Derby sat 16th.

The Reds gained revenge however on the 28th December when they defeated The Rams 1-0 at Oakwell when Ashley Ward netted against his former side to give Barnsley the points although The Reds remained rock bottom in the league, Derby were in an impressive 7th place.

Reds side 28/12/97:

Watson, Eaden, DeZeeuw, Moses, Barnard / Tinkler, Sheridan, Redfearn / Marcelle (Bullock 75), Hristov (Liddell 60), Ward.

As we all know The Reds ended the season 2nd bottom (19th) and their short stay in England's top flight was over, a place we have yet to return. Derby finished the season in 9th place. They were relegated in 2002.

Onto the present day then and Derby, under new manager Billy Davies have made an average start with 5 wins and 5 defeats. They have only won once at home this season, 3-0 against Southend and lost their last home game 1-0 to Birmingham.

They will have confidence though after snatching a 2-2 draw at league leaders Cardiff City in the last minute on Saturday!

With victory Derby could move realistically from 14th to 8th whilst Barnsley could move themselves out of the relegation zone to 21st.
