Head to Head
Barnsley fans will travel to the new Keepmoat Stadium tomorrow night in confident mood after that terrific 4-1 win over Doncaster at Oakwell at the beginning of the month but with the monkey of losing the last five games to Rovers off their back there is another one that needs to be removed tomorrow night. It is a massive 41 years since The Reds last triumphed at Rovers- a stretch of 11 games, seven of which Rovers have won. Barnsley have also returned goal-less on their last two visits- a 2-0 defeat in 2006 and a 4-0 thrashing in 2005. One thing that can be said for this however is that all those results came at Belle Vue. This will be Barnsley's first visit to the Keepmoat Stadium. Lets hope it starts with a win- their first visit to Belle Vue, in 1901, did!

This Season:
There may never be a better time for Barnsley to take three points from Rovers than tomorrow night as the Championship new-boys are on a run of nine games without a win - eight of which have ended in defeat, including the 4-1 defeat at Oakwell. Their only respite since the 1-0 home win over Coventry way back on the 30th August came in the form of a 0-0 draw with Blackpool, again at home on the 18th October. Rovers have also failed to score in their previous three home games whilst two of their past three league goals have come from the penalty spot.
It's a statistic that is always awful to keep mentioning but Barnsley have won just nine out of 52 Championship away games since promotion in 2006 and that's what makes tomorrow's game so tough. The Reds have picked up just one point and scored one goal on their travels this season. They are currently on a run of 540 minutes without a goal on the road. But the last two home results against Sheffield Wednesday and Bristol City have helped lift The Reds out of the relegation zone, and four points above Donny.
