Team News

Reds boss Simon Davey may consider changes after the lure of SKY TV has forced his side to play twice in the space of 48 hours. Davey went with three strikers at Preston- Kayode Odejayi, Jon Macken and Miguel Mostto, but after a poor show from Mostto, Davey may revert back to the 4-4-2 that brought a win in the last home game. Anderson De Silva serves the final match of his three match suspension and Darren Moore and Iain Hume remain sidelined with injuries. Martin Devaney is also pushing for a start whilst Simon Whaley is available again.

Head to Head

Barnsley have a very good home record against Burnley, they have not been defeated by the Clarets at Oakwell since 1932! A run of 12 games! Last season Miguel Mostto grabbed his first goal since his £400,000 move in a 1-1 draw. The last victory came on Boxing Day 2006, courtesy of a goal from Martin Devaney. The Reds recent record at Turf Moor is pretty dire however, having lost on four of the last five visits, including the last three. Last season saw a 2-1 reverse, in 2006-2007 The Reds let a 2-0 lead slip to lose 4-2 and in 2005-2006, The Reds Carling Cup run ended courtesy of a 3-0 defeat in Lancashire.

This Season:

Burnley may be on course to end eight seasons of mediocrity this season. Since being promotoed from League One in 2000, Burnley have been stuck in midtable, but under Owen Coyle, the Clarets are currently on a run of just two defeats in 18 in all competitions, to sit in fifth place in the Championship. They also emulated The Reds this season, by knocking Chelsea out of a cup competition. Just like Saturday 8th March 2008 will be date Barnsley fans will never forget, Wednesday 12th November 2008 will never be forgotten by Burnley fans, as they saw their side go to Stamford Bridge, earn a 1-1 draw and then defeat last season's Carling Cup Finalists on penalites. They havent suffered a cup hangover either. Three days after the Chelsea win, they beat Chelsea's West London rivals QPR 2-1 at Loftus Road, although the Clarets will be disappointed to only draw 0-0 at home to struggling Doncaster at the weekend. Burnley have also only lost four times on their travels- a record only bettered by the top two Wolves and Birmingham.

Barnsley head into this game with just one defeat in their last six home games and if they claim victory tomorrow it will be the fifth in the last eight games. Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Preston was disappointing with the winner coming via a deflection just two minutes from time.
