Barnsley have been dealt a massive blow after learning key defender Martin Cranie will be out for up to a month with a knee injury.
The 26 year old suffered the complaint during the Capital One Cup tie with Scunthorpe on Tuesday night and it forced him off after 63 minutes.
Now he joins a lengthy list including Lewin Nyatanga, Kelvin Etuhu, Paul Digby, Danny Rose and the suspended Dale Jennings.
Meanwhile manager David Flitcroft is adamant he will not be rushed or paniced into signing a new striker despite the fact The Reds are yet to score a goal in 2013-2014.
Flitcroft has been in talks with Hull City about Aaron McLean and said:
“‘We had a positive meeting this morning, but agents have a big say.
“A lot of them are stopping players going out on loan at the moment because they want to get paid. That is hindering the search, not just for us but probably other clubs as well.
“But we will keep plugging away. I’m not going to panic and bring the wrong one in. A player has to be the right fit for this football club.”
“Scoring is something we need to work on, but we’re determined to keep going and will work hard on the training pitch to get things flowing on matchdays,” he said. “We’re a club moving forward, we’ve got a plan and we’ll keep improving.
“I’ve asked the players to be a bit quicker around the box and to get snappier shots off.”
