Barnsley benefactor Patrick Cryne has said The Reds will attempt to sign quality rather than quantity this summer as they prepare to mount an assault on the Championship.
Reds boss Andy Ritchie had talks with Cryne and Chairman Gordon Shepherd before he departed on holiday and they discussed "2 or 3" key signings.
Ritchie has already stated his wishes to give the play-off heroes the chance to take the club onto greater heights and this week offered seven of those players new contracts.
Cryne told, the Barnsley Chronicle this week that they will be looking at players who will excite the fans and Ritchie is looking to create a team that will " provide great entertainment and is a source of pride"
Cryne also expressed his wish to see Michael Chopra back in a Red shirt next season.
Chopra was a major hit in a disappointing 2004-2005 season as he hit 17 goals in a loan spell from Newcastle United.
With Magpies boss Glenn Roeder searching for new strikers and Chopra's contract up there have been big rumours he could be back at Oakwell. A move which WOULD excite fans.
Rumours have also been circulating this week however that Chopra is in talks with fellow Championship outfit Cardiff City, whos "Financial Advisor" is none other than the man who initially brought Chopra to Oakwell, Peter Ridsdale.
