Darren Ward To Join Squad

Last updated : 14 July 2006 By Rob Miles (barnsley Boy)

Wales International goal-keeper Darren Ward will join the squad on their trip to the Isle of Man.

With Scott Flinders signing for Crystal Palace, it is now essential Andy Ritchie signs cover for number 1 Nick Colgan.

31 year old Ward is a vastly experienced goal-keeper after playing in the Championship and Premiership with Nottingham Forest and Norwich City.

Ward has been released by Norwich this summer after 2 years at Carrow Road, and Ritchie and John Lukic will give him a look over this weekend.

Meanwhile Barnsley's U18 side started their pre-season friendlies off with a 3-2 win over Tranmere. Tom Beevor, Luke Waterfall and Kyle Wyatt got the goals.

French U20 International Garra Dembele has left the club after a week's trial
