David On The Button For Hill

Barnsley boss Keith Hill have moved to solve his goalkeeper crisis by handing Tottenham Hotspur’s David Button his 13th loan spell in four years at a 10th different club.

The 23 year old who was most recently at The Reds South Yorkshire rivals Doncaster- and made his debut for them in their 2-0 win over Barnsley on the 2nd January, will remain at Oakwell until the 15th April as cover for normal backup keeper David Preece who has a fractured wrist.

It marks quite a U-turn for Hill who stated before the weekend’s matches that he would not be signing a replacement and instead would give Academy stopper Lukas Lidakevicius his chance in the squad.

Button has won 31 caps for four separate England age groups up to Under 20 level and ironically was signed on loan by Hill at Rochdale between March and April in 2008 but did not appear.
