Academy Scholar Paul Digby has signed a new deal at Oakwell that ties him to the club until 2014.
The 17-year-old midfielder has broken into the first team in recent weeks. He made his debut as a substitute in the 1-1 draw at Derby back in September but was handed his first start in the 3-1 home defeat to Birmingham last month. Since then the Sheffield born youngster who won the club’s Most Promising Academy Player award in 2008 whilst in the Under 13 squad has started the 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest and come off the bench in the 2-0 defeat at Southampton.
Reds director Don Rowing told the Star:
“He’s very mature for his age and has a bright future. Giving a professional deal to an academy player is especially nice for the supporters and everyone involved with the club.”
