Reds owner Peter Doyle has pulled the plug on a six-figure cash
injection from shirt sponsors iSoft according to the Yorkshire Post.
This is despite the debts problems which continue to haunt the club.
The deal with iSoft was initiated by chief executive Patrick Cryne who was rumoured to be interested in buying the club before Doyle.
The two sides had agreed to extend the sponsorship but the deal has now been scrapped.
Alex Gray, marketing executive for the Isoft, said: "This was totally out of the blue and no reason has been given. We were approached last week by Barnsley with an offer to continue our sponsorship and this was verbally accepted.
"Now we have been told that the offer has been withdrawn and the matter is
final. Naturally, we are very disappointed and it is a shame. We don't know
what is going on down there."
Doyle was unavailable for comment. Perhaps his mystery investor wants his name on the shirts?
