Peter Doyle has threatened to quit the club unless a whispering campaign against him comes to an end.
Doyle's refusal to guarantee the future of the club's academy and his unwillingness to spend any more money to pay creditors means the club will have to use existing assets which are likely to mean the sale of 20 acres of land around Oakwell.
The fans are angered by Doyle retaining John Dennis as Chairman and plans to sell the clubs assets.
The Football League has yet to accept Doyle's ownership bid unless debts are paid to all existing creditors.
Doyle told the Yorkshire Post ahead of Friday's creditor's meeting: "People are always looking for ulterior motives but there are none. Why should there be?"
"I am not looking for pats on the back but I do need support.
"Make no mistake, without me right now there would be no football club.
"But if I don't get any help I will hand the club back. If anyone is prepared to pay me pound-for-pound what I have just paid they can have the club. I may even come down in price."
