Reds midfielder Stephen McPhail has been ruled out of the Carling Cup tie at Darlington.
McPhail limped out of Saturday's draw at Walsall with a thigh injury.
Nicky Wroe will stand in as Jacob Burns is still injured.
Striker Barry Conlon will be hoping to continue on the goal trail against his former club.
