Brighton & Hove Albion defender Adam El-Abd has reportedly held talks with Reds boss David Flitcroft about a move to Oakwell.
The 28-year-old Albion stalwart has been offered a new deal at the AMEX Stadium, but is yet to sign the contract.
He joined the Seagulls in 2003, and has gone on to make over 300 appearances in a Brighton shirt. He is thought to be a big admirer of recently sacked boss Gus Poyet.
Flitcroft told the Sheffield Star about El-Abd:
“We met with Adam and we’ve spoken to him about him signing for us,”
“We’ve showed him what we’re trying to do at the club, and he’s a player I’ve liked for a long time.
“I played against him for Rochdale and he’s a player with good pedigree.
“There are changes at Brighton at the moment, so we’ll have to see whether a deal can be done.”
