Former Manchester City winger Kelvin Etuhu has seen his hopes of reigniting his career at Oakwell dashed after failing a medical on Wednesday.
The 23 year old who enjoyed a short stint under Reds boss Keith Hill at Rochdale in 2007 where he scored twice in four games, is looking to resurrect his career after spending the last eight months in prison for an assault charge. That sentence saw Manchester City cancel his contract and the ex Leicester and Cardiff loanee was looking to get his life back on track in South Yorkshire. That has now been all but dashed after Barnsley sent his medical reports back for more examinations.
Hill told the Star:
“People are jumping the gun and saying we’ve signed Kelvin, but nothing’s been signed. Until a contract’s signed then we’ve not signed a player, it’s annoying to be honest. He’s a player I admire, but at the moment the deal is ongoing. He’s a good lad, but I’m not sure whether we’re going to be able to sign him at this stage,”
