Ex Barnsley striker Steve Cooper dies at 39
Cooper was a fans favourite at Oakwell and is probably best remembered for his FA Cup goal against Stoke City followed by his trademark back-flip somersault celebration.
The Birmingham-born striker joined the Reds from Plymouth Argyle in the summer of 1988 and a goalscoring debut at Oldham on the opening day of the 1988/89 season.
Steve hit 17 goals in 92 first team appearances for the Reds before joining Tranmere Rovers in 1990.
Tykes Mad would like to pass its sincere condolences to Steve’s family (wife Hayley and children Dale and Jade) and friends.
