Steve Parkin, the first manager to be sacked by a football club while in administration, is considering legal action against Barnsley. His claim for £100,000 compensation has yet to be resolved, despite assurances from Chairman John Dennis that his contract would be honoured.
Parkin, a committee member for the League Manager's Association, was sacked in October along with his right hand man, Tony Ford. The lack of communiction from the club has angered Parkin, who is unable even to sign on the dole until the compensation payment is settled.
"We expect to be treated properly, as previous Barnsley managers have", said Parkin. "We're not demanding a lump sum, we would accept monthly or weekly payments. We've made numerous calls to Oakwell and hit a brick wall. The only route open to us appears to be a legal one"
