.................. the Reds who have lost in the Third Round five times since reaching the Quarter-Finals in 2012-2013 will meet the winners of a replay on the 10th December between Crewe and Eastleigh who drew 1-1 in the orginial tie at Eastleigh's Silverlake Stadium at the end of November.
Barnsley have never before faced Eastleigh who currently lie 13th in the National League whilst they have won 26 of 55 meetings with League Two promotion chasers Crewe who currently sit third in the fourth tier.
The two sides last met in Barnsley's League One promotion season of 2015-2016 with the Alex winning 2-1 at Oakwell in October 2015 - the second of a seven match losing league run that season for the Reds before Barnsley won 2-1 at Gresty Road in February 2016, which was part of a run of nine wins from 11 during the Reds resurgence from the bottom of the table.
Barnsley have won three of the past four meetings but had lost each of the five prior to this including two League Cup meetings ( a 2-0 reverse at Gresty Road in 2008 and 2-0 at Oakwell in 2014)
The two teams have met twice in the FA Cup, the last of which was 92 years ago - they first met in the First Round of 1906-1907 (the clubs first ever meeting) which ended in a 1-1 draw at Crewe before Barnsley won the replay 4-0 with the Reds then thrashing Alex 6-1 in the Third Round of 1905-1906
