Former Barnsley striker Rory Fallon suffered World Cup agony despite netting in the CONCACAF/Oceania Play-Off Second Leg for New Zealand.
The 31 year old netted 11 times in 52 appearances for The Reds between 1999 and 2003, before moving on to Swindon, Swansea, Plymouth, Yeovil, Aberdeen and St Johnstone.
Fallon grabbed his fourth international goal whilst winning his 17th cap last night but the All Whites lost 4-2 to Mexico, 9-3 on aggregate.
It is a bitter blow for Fallon and his country who made it to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
